The Story of Feast&Flamez
Feast & Flamez didn’t begin as a festival—it started as a feeling. A practice. A way of being.
In our father’s house in Accra, Ghana, there was a saying we lived by: “No Contribution, No Chop.”
Whenever we craved a meal that was beyond our means, that simple phrase made it possible. Everyone contributed. Someone brought the rice, another brought the eggs, one came with spices, and someone else brought the pot and firewood. We all had a part. We all had a purpose. All hands on deck. No one left behind. It was the power of one multiplied by community.
When we moved to Worcester, Massachusetts in 2016, we carried that spirit with us. By 2017, we began living it again under the 508VILLE brand. We called it NCNC (No Contribution, No Chop)—a gathering rooted in love, food, music, and collaboration. We’d pick a dish, set a date, and come together. Always with love. Always with joy. And always with flavor.
At every NCNC, the food matched the flame: suya, jerk chicken, fried plantains, grilled steak—each meal cooked over charcoal, each bite steeped in memory. These weren’t just dishes; they were soul food—flavors of home, culture, and identity. Everyone left nourished—in body and spirit.
Feast & Flamez came to us like a memory on the wind—
The smoke of peppery stew in a dented aluminum pot.
The sound of riddims spilling from a food truck on Main Street.
A teenager freestyling by a fence.
A vendor selling handmade soaps that smelled like the continent.
We saw it all around Worcester—African culture alive, but scattered.
From the open-air markets of Lagos to the drum circles of Dakar, the storytelling of Nairobi, the dance battles of Accra, and the textiles of Bamako—our culture pulses in a million forms.
So we asked:
What if food, music, and art weren’t just the backdrop—but the main event?
Our mother used to say, “The fire knows what it’s doing.”
Some things just need heat and time to reveal their purpose.
That fire was already burning.
In 2018, the idea began to take shape.
In 2019, we hosted a community event in Worcester called PWNV Cookout PartyWithNoViolence—cook out, dancing in the driveway, reclaiming joy in the corners of community life.
Then in 2023, we gave the fire a name and hosted the first official Feast&Flamez.
We cooked. We performed music. We painted live. We invited vendors who felt like home.
And when people showed up, they didn’t just say, “Great event”—
They said, “This feels like a home.”
What started as three back-to-back summer cookouts grew into something far more meaningful—a celebration of what happens when culture, creativity, and connection take center stage.
Today, Feast&Flamez is more than an event.
It’s a celebration of who we are: a collective of brothers and sisters committed to sharing our way of life, amplifying community voices, and creating unforgettable experiences filled with rhythm, flavor, and big love. At the heart of it all is a belief: Culture is not a moment. It’s our love in action.
This is Love Culture. This is Feast&Flamez.
